Mevl\u00e2na Celaleddin-i Rumi 30 Eyl\u00fcl 1207 y\u0131l\u0131nda bug\u00fcn Afganistan s\u0131n\u0131rlar\u0131 i\u00e7erisinde yer alan Horasan\u2019\u0131n Belh \u015fehrinde do\u011fmu\u015ftur.Mevl\u00e2na\u2019n\u0131n babas\u0131 Belh \u015fehrinin ileri gelenlerinden olup sa\u011fl\u0131\u011f\u0131nda \u201cBilginlerin Sultan\u0131\u201d \u00fcnvan\u0131n\u0131 alm\u0131\u015f olan H\u00fcseyin Hatib\u00ee o\u011flu Bahaeddin Veled\u2019dir. Annesi ise Belh Emiri R\u00fckneddin\u2019in k\u0131z\u0131 M\u00fcmine Hatun\u2019dur.\n
Sult\u00e2n\u00fc\u2019l-Ulem\u00e2 Bahaeddin Veled, baz\u0131 siyasi olaylar ve yakla\u015fmakta olan Mo\u011fol istilas\u0131 nedeniyle Belh\u2019ten ayr\u0131lmak zorunda kalm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Sult\u00e2n\u00fc\u2019l-Ulem\u00e2 1212 veya 1213 y\u0131llar\u0131nda aile fertleri ve yak\u0131n dostlar\u0131 ile birlikte Belh\u2019ten ayr\u0131l\u0131nca ilk dura\u011f\u0131 Ni\u015f\u00e2bur olmu\u015ftur. Ni\u015f\u00e2bur \u015fehrinde tan\u0131nm\u0131\u015f Mutasavv\u0131f Fer\u00eed\u00fcddin Attar ile de kar\u015f\u0131la\u015fm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Mevl\u00e2na burada k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck ya\u015f\u0131na ra\u011fmen Fer\u00eed\u00fcddin Attar\u2019\u0131n ilgisini \u00e7ekmi\u015f ve takdirlerini kazanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.\n
Sult\u00e2n\u00fc\u2019l-Ulem\u00e2 Ni\u015f\u00e2bur\u2019dan Ba\u011fdat\u2019a ve daha sonra K\u00fbfe yolu ile K\u00e2be\u2019ye hareket etti. Hac farizas\u0131n\u0131 yerine getirdikten sonra d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015fte \u015eam\u2019a u\u011frad\u0131. \u015eam\u2019dan sonra Malatya, Erzincan, Sivas, Kayseri, Ni\u011fde yolu ile L\u00e2rende\u2019ye (Karaman) geldi. Karaman\u2019da Suba\u015f\u0131 Emir Musa\u2019n\u0131n yapt\u0131rd\u0131klar\u0131 medreseye yerle\u015fti.\n
1222 y\u0131l\u0131nda Karaman\u2019a gelen Sult\u00e2n\u00fc\u2019l-Ulem\u00e2 ve ailesi burada 7 y\u0131l kald\u0131. Mevl\u00e2na 1225 y\u0131l\u0131nda \u015eerefeddin Lala\u2019n\u0131n k\u0131z\u0131 Gevher Hatun ile Karaman\u2019da evlendi. Bu evlilikten Mevl\u00e2na\u2019n\u0131n Sultan Veled ve Al\u00e2eddin \u00c7elebi ad\u0131nda iki o\u011flu oldu. Y\u0131llar sonra Gevher Hatun\u2019 u kaybeden Mevl\u00e2na bir \u00e7ocuklu dul olan Kerra Hatun ile ikinci evlili\u011fini yapt\u0131. Mevl\u00e2na\u2019n\u0131n bu evlilikten de Muzaffereddin ve Emir Alim \u00c7elebi adl\u0131 iki o\u011flu ve Melike Hatun adl\u0131 bir k\u0131z\u0131 d\u00fcnyaya geldi.\n
Bu y\u0131llarda Anadolu\u2019nun b\u00fcy\u00fck bir k\u0131sm\u0131 Sel\u00e7uklu Devletinin egemenli\u011fi alt\u0131nda, Konya ise bu devletin ba\u015f\u015fehri idi. Konya sanat eserleri ile donat\u0131lm\u0131\u015f, ilim adamlar\u0131 ve sanatkarlarla dolup ta\u015fm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. K\u0131saca Sel\u00e7uklu Devleti en parlak devrini ya\u015f\u0131yordu ve devletin h\u00fck\u00fcmdar\u0131 Al\u00e2eddin Keykubad idi. Al\u00e2eddin Keykubad, Sult\u00e2n\u00fc\u2019l-Ulem\u00e2 Bahaeddin Veled\u2019i Karaman\u2019dan Konya\u2019ya davet ederek,Konya\u2019ya yerle\u015fmesini istedi.\n
Bahaeddin Veled, sultan\u0131n davetini kabul etti.Konya\u2019ya 3 May\u0131s 1228 y\u0131l\u0131nda ailesi ve dostlar\u0131 ile geldi. Sultan Al\u00e2eddin onu muhte\u015fem bir t\u00f6renle kar\u015f\u0131lad\u0131 ve ikametg\u00e2h olarak Altunapa (\u0130plik\u00e7i) Medresesi\u2019ni tahsis etti.\n
Sult\u00e2n\u00fc\u2019l-Ulem\u00e2, 12 Ocak 1231 y\u0131l\u0131nda Konya\u2019da vefat etti. Mezar yeri olarak Sel\u00e7uklu Saray\u0131\u2019n\u0131n G\u00fcl Bah\u00e7esi se\u00e7ildi. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde m\u00fcze olarak kullan\u0131lan Mevl\u00e2na Derg\u00e2h\u0131\u2019na, bug\u00fcnk\u00fc yerine defnedildi.\n
Sult\u00e2n\u00fc\u2019l-Ulem\u00e2 \u00f6l\u00fcnce talebeleri ve m\u00fcridleri bu defa Mevl\u00e2na\u2019n\u0131n \u00e7evresinde topland\u0131lar. Mevl\u00e2na\u2019y\u0131 babas\u0131n\u0131n tek varisi olarak g\u00f6rd\u00fcler. Ger\u00e7ekten de Mevl\u00e2na b\u00fcy\u00fck bir ilim ve din bilgini olmu\u015f, \u0130plik\u00e7i Medresesi\u2019nde vaazlar veriyordu. Medrese kendisini dinlemeye gelenlerle dolup ta\u015f\u0131yordu.\n
Mevl\u00e2na 15 Kas\u0131m 1244 y\u0131l\u0131nda \u015eems-i Tebriz\u00ee ile kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131. Mevl\u00e2na \u015eems\u2019te \u201cmutlak kem\u00e2lin varl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131\u201d cemalinde de \u201cTanr\u0131 nurlar\u0131n\u0131\u201d g\u00f6rm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc. Ancak beraberlikleri uzun s\u00fcrmedi. \u015eems aniden \u00f6ld\u00fc. Mevl\u00e2na \u015eems\u2019in \u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcnden sonra uzun y\u0131llar inzivaya \u00e7ekildi. Daha sonraki y\u0131llarda Sel\u00e2haddin Zerkubi ve H\u00fcsameddin \u00c7elebi, \u015eems-i Tebriz\u00ee\u2019nin yerini doldurmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131lar.\n
Ya\u015fam\u0131n\u0131 \u201cHamd\u0131m, pi\u015ftim, yand\u0131m\u201d s\u00f6zleri ile \u00f6zetleyen Mevl\u00e2na 17 Aral\u0131k 1273 pazar g\u00fcn\u00fc Hakk\u2019\u0131n rahmetine kavu\u015ftu. Mevl\u00e2na\u2019n\u0131n cenaze namaz\u0131n\u0131 vasiyeti \u00fczerine Sadrettin Konevi k\u0131ld\u0131racakt\u0131. Ancak Sadreddin Konevi \u00e7ok sevdi\u011fi Mevl\u00e2na\u2019y\u0131 kaybetmeye dayanamay\u0131p cenazede bay\u0131ld\u0131. Bunun \u00fczerine Mevl\u00e2na\u2019n\u0131n cenaze namaz\u0131n\u0131 Kad\u0131 Siraceddin k\u0131ld\u0131rd\u0131.\n
Mevl\u00e2na \u00f6l\u00fcm g\u00fcn\u00fcn\u00fc yeniden do\u011fu\u015f g\u00fcn\u00fc olarak kabul etmi\u015ftir. O \u00f6ld\u00fc\u011f\u00fc zaman sevdi\u011fine, yani Allah\u2019\u0131na kavu\u015facakt\u0131. Onun i\u00e7in Mevl\u00e2na \u00f6l\u00fcm g\u00fcn\u00fcne d\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn g\u00fcn\u00fc veya gelin gecesi manas\u0131na gelen \u201c\u015eeb-i Arus\u201d demi\u015ftir.Dostlar\u0131na \u00a0da \u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcn\u00fcn ard\u0131ndan ah-ah, vah-vah edip a\u011flamay\u0131n diyerek vasiyet etmi\u015ftir.\n

\nMesnevi klasik do\u011fu edebiyat\u0131nda bir \u015fiir tarz\u0131n\u0131n ad\u0131d\u0131r. Edebiyatta ayn\u0131 vezinde ve her beyti kendi aras\u0131nda ayr\u0131 ayr\u0131 kafiyeli naz\u0131m t\u00fcr\u00fcne Mesnevi ad\u0131 verilmi\u015ftir. Uzun s\u00fcrecek konular veya hikayeler \u015fiir yoluyla anlat\u0131lmak istendi\u011finde, kafiye kolayl\u0131\u011f\u0131 nedeniyle mesnevi t\u00fcr\u00fc tercih edilirdi.\n
Mesnevi her ne kadar klasik do\u011fu \u015fiirinin bir t\u00fcr\u00fc ise de, \u201cMesnevi\u201d denildi\u011fi zaman akla \u201cMevl\u00e2na\u2019n\u0131n Mesnevi\u2019si\u201d gelmektedir.\n
Mevl\u00e2na Mesnevi\u2019yi H\u00fcsameddin \u00c7elebi\u2019nin iste\u011fi \u00fczerine yazm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. K\u00e2tibi H\u00fcsameddin \u00c7elebi\u2019nin s\u00f6yledi\u011fine g\u00f6re, Mevl\u00e2na, Mesnevi beyitlerini Meram\u2019da gezerken, oturuken, y\u00fcr\u00fcrken, hatta sem\u00e2 ederken s\u00f6ylermi\u015f. \u00c7elebi H\u00fcsameddin de yazarm\u0131\u015f.\n
Mesnevi\u2019nin dili Fars\u00e7a\u2019d\u0131r. Halen Mevl\u00e2na M\u00fczesi\u2019nde te\u015fhirde bulunan 1278 tarihli, elde bulunulan en eski Mesnevi n\u00fcshas\u0131na g\u00f6re beyit say\u0131s\u0131 25618\u2019dir.\n
